The Belk Center, Achieving the Dream (ATD), and the NC Student Success Center, are creating up to six Teaching and Learning Hubs that are dedicated to helping faculty and staff build equity into learning. The first two — East Hub and West Hub — are operating now.
The Hubs offer in-person, virtual, and hybrid workshops and seminars, all of which are open to full- and part-time faculty and staff educators. These professional development sessions help participants learn about, adopt, test, and scale evidence-based strategies that lead to more equitable student outcomes.
Each Hub has two lead colleges, a co-director from each of the two lead colleges, and affiliated colleges in the local area. Faculty from these institutions, led by the co-directors, will shape the Hub’s content and offerings.
The Hubs were developed with input from NC community college presidents, chief academic officers, and full-time and adjunct faculty in the NC Community College System. In addition, case studies at six community colleges informed the planning.
