Faculty & Staff Learning

The NC SSC offers a variety of free online and in-person professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
- Step Ahead The NC Student Success Center offers ten learning online courses that were created by North Carolina Community College faculty members from across the state. Each asynchronous course consists of four to six modules. Each module can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes.
- Teaching and Learning Hubs. The Hubs — created by The Belk Center, Achieving the Dream (ATD), and the NC Student Success Center — help faculty and staff educators build equity into learning and student success. The Hubs offer in-person, virtual, and hybrid workshops and seminars, all of which are open to full- and part-time faculty and staff educators.
- The NC SSC offers a variety of workshops that help faculty improve their practice.
- The NC SSC also is offering cohorts of faculty the opportunity to participate in an Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) micro-credential course. Two cohorts began in July 2020 with more to follow fall 2020. The first micro-credential is “Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Online Learning Environment.” The NC SSC is determining how cohorts will be structured but plans to provide opportunities to a variety of faculty, including full-time, part-time, Curriculum, Adult Ed, Con-Ed, and Career and Technical Education (CTE).
