Courage to Credits
The UNC System Office maintains the Courage to Credits database, which shows how many credits should be granted for specific military occupations and courses. All of the information in this database comes from determinations made by the faculty panels.
When a veteran begins college, their college consults the Courage to Credits database to identify credits they must be awarded based on their military service. A college also may award additional credits for military occupations and/or courses that are not yet in the Courage to Credits database.
- For veterans of the Air Force, Community College of the Air Force transcripts are evaluated by the college registrar or designated college official as a traditional college transcript.
- For veterans of the Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard: For occupations and courses not listed on the military credit crosswalk and Community College of the Air Force, colleges refer to recommendations from the American Council on Education.
