CCRG
Courses
CCRG courses are college developmental math and English courses delivered in high school. They use curricula approved by the State Board of Community Colleges and are taught by high school faculty who have been trained to teach them.
In addition to addressing relevant content, CCRG courses teach growth mindset and help students recognize that they can be successful in college. They aim to help students pass gateway math and English in their first term in college.

CCRG English IV Course
- Has NCCCS Transition English (ENG 002) learning outcomes integrated with English IV standards.
- Is listed as English IV on the student’s transcript and counts as such for graduation.
In addition, there are two tier tests in the ENG 002 material (delivered via the EdReady online curriculum), and scores on those tests can improve a student’s college placement:
- Earning a mastery score on the tier tests give the student placement credit at any North Carolina community college.
- The English IV grade for high school graduation typically is based on a variety of class activities and is not dependent on the completion of the tier tests.
CCRG Math Course
- Consists of the NCCCS Transition Math (MAT 003) learning outcomes and is not integrated into a high school math course
- The course can count as a fourth math for high school graduation purposes, but it is not a fourth-level math for UNC System minimum admission requirements.
In addition, there are three tier tests in the MAT 003 material (delivered via the EdReady online curriculum), and scores on those tests can improve a student’s college placement:
- Earning a mastery score on the tier tests give the student placement credit at any North Carolina community college.
- The CCRG Math course grade for high school graduation typically is based on a variety of class activities and is not dependent on the completion of the tier tests.
